Benefit Cosmetics Cheek Parade | Review

Hello people of the world, hope you all are having a fantastic day.
Today's I'm going to talk about the product that has changed my life, I don't think I've ever been this excited about any product before. I'm talking about the Cheek Parade palette by Benefit Cosmetic which was released earlier this year. When I came across, I knew I had to get it. I just knew!
I've been using this palette everyday since I got it and it never fails to impress me.

About the product:
Benefit's iconic bronzers & blushes rally together in this limited edition cheek palette. Features our New Galifornia golden pink blush, New Hoola lite bronzer, original Hoola matte bronzer and more. Drum up some cheeky fun with our signature tips and tricks!
5 shades to flatter all skintones
Blush bronzer palette
NEW! Hoola lite bronzer
NEW! Galifornia golden pink blush
soft, natural-bristle powder brush
all full size

Packaging:
This is the box of my dreams, I mean just look at how colourful and bright the packaging is. On the box you have 5 girls each holding a drum, but they replaced the drum with benefit products, I really like this concept because it's called the Cheek Parade, and they're holding the drums but the drums are their products, you get the point, right?
Anywho, at the back you get information in terms of  how much of the product you get and where it was made, which is pretty boring, maybe that's why they put it at the back, no?
Inside, there's a huge mirror which I absolutely love.
It also comes with a little booklet in which they show you how to use the bronzers & the blushers. If you're not a makeup artist or someone who just started doing their makeup, these type of booklets are really helpful.
It also comes with a little brush, this brush comes with every blush or bronzer you buy from benefit. I don't really like the blushes that comes with these kind of palettes but this one's really good.
Some people find this brush a little dense but I've been using it to contour my face and have been loving it.
Based on first impressions this pallets is one of the best I have ever seen! It is so beautiful, you just want to stare at it. It looks super put together, everything about this pallet is just super high end.

Original Hoola Bronzer:
Original Hoola bronzer, which is the love of millions, provides a sun kissed glow and is a fantastic shade for contouring. I was most excited to use the Hoola bronzer from the palette and words cannot describe how much I've fallen for this product. Let's just say, I've found 'the one' bronzer.

Hoola Lite:
Next, we have a new addition to the family, Hoola Lite, which is basically the lighter version of the original Hoola bronzer. This is perfect for those with light skin, it provides a soft natural light bronze look. It adds a nice subtle right amount of warmth to the face.

Rockateur:
This blusher is giving me life! It is marketed as the rose gold face powder and I am a sucker for anything rose gold. It has a super metallic look to it and the color actually kinda looks like mauve to me. It does not have any chunks of glitter in it but gives a nice shiny look when you put it on your face. But it's super light and really doesn't show up on the skin unless you get a lot of product on the brush.

Dandelion:
It's a soft pink color which looks really beautiful but is my least favourite out of all 5. It's not as pigmented as other blushers and gives a nice subtle look to the face.

Galifornia:
I saved the best for the last. This blusher is probably my favourite out of the whole pallet. It's a peachy pink color but has specks of gold shimmer in it, gives a really soft sheen to the cheeks and a nice flush of color but not too shimmery or intense. Oh and it smells absolutely ah-mazing, smells like summer (if that makes any sense). Perfect for you, if you're going for a soft shimmery natural look.

Swatches:

(L-R) Hoola bronzer, Hoola Lite, Dandelion, Rockateur, Galiforna
In the sunlight

Final thoughts:
This palette has become one of my favorites. The packaging, the products that you get, everything inside the box just screams perfection, you get some of their best selling blushes and bronzers in this pallete. I mean it's a beautiful pallete for the price because if you buy the blush or bronzer alone, it would cost you 29$ . That means the value for this whole palette is $145 which you're getting for $58 which is such an awesome deal. Also it's great to travel with. cause you've got you're bronzer and blushers in one box instead of carrying them separately.
But since October has already started and it's officially fall, I might have to switch to something darker and fall'er (eh). The blushers in the palette are perfect for Spring and Summer. But I'll definitely be using this palette for the Hoola bronzer during the winters.
What I really love about this palette is that all of the products are full size, so you end up saving quite a lot of money.
All in all, I highly recommend this palette, you get a lot for the money you pay and you get full sized products in one palette. For me, this palette is a 10/10.

Toni&Guy Matt Texture Dry Shampoo | Review

If you wash your hair every single day, this post might not interest you. But if you think washing it everyday is damaging for the hair or you're just a lazy person like me (I feel you girl) then keep reading.
We all know that a right dry shampoo can save your day, but in order to find that right shampoo, you have to waste a couple of bucks. I've had my fair share of weird smelling dry shampoos and am still in search of a dry shampoo that does what it claims & smells nice\fresh.

I don't have an oily scalp, and my hair used to look fresh without washing it for 3-4 days (lucky, I know) but ever since I moved to Islamabad, there's something in the air that has made my scalp a bit oily and i have to wash my hair every other day.
(a struggle which you will only understand if you have long/thick hair)

I've been using the Batiste Dry Shampoo for over 2 years but wanted to try something new and that's when I came across the Toni&Guy matt texture dry shampoo, and decided to give it a try.

Now for some reason I had this image in mind that every product by Toni & Guy would be a 10/10 because Toni & Guy is a multi-award winning hairdressing brand with more that 50 years of experience in haircare expertise (source:google). And they have salons in different cities so they probably know what they're doing. But I was a little disappointed with this product.

Directions for use: Shake can before and during use. Spray on dry hair from root to tip. Allow product to set for a few seconds and then work through with fingers. For longer lasting texture, finish with Toni&Guy Flexible Hold Hairspray.

Okay can we just stop right here and talk about how all these brands wants us to purchase their entire range of products in order for us to see the 'results'. Why can't we buy the product individually and see the results.
So they want me to buy more products from this range and then you 'suggest' that it works better if you use the shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, serum etc from the same range?
No thankyou.
I'm not gonna spend my money on your entire range and then be disappointed with every single product. k thnx.

My thoughts:
It does give a matte finish not gonna argue with that but it makes my hair so stiff that i can't brush it once i've sprayed it on. I have to use a wide tooth comb that too very gently or the hair just breaks. Every time I use it I feel like there's so much product in my hair, and it just does not feel clean. Also, it smells really weird. It has a chemically scent to it. It just smells like a bad shampoo.

4 years back I purchased a Toni&Guy dry shampoo, it looked similar to this shampoo but the bottle was white in color, and it worked really well for me. Even though it did have a soapy scent but it made my hair non-greasy without making it stiff. Not sure if they discontinued that product or changed the look (and formula) and came up with this one, which is a no-no for me.

Final Verdict:
If you don't mind a dry shampoo that smells a bit weird and makes your hair stiff and at some times difficult to brush, then this is the product for you.
But I have to say that it does give the hair a matt finish and absorbs the oil on your scalp.
I don't think I'll repurchase it but I wouldn't stop anyone else from buying it either, because if you want a dry shampoo to give your hair a matt look, you should give this product a try.

You can getthis dry shampoo easily from Shaheen Chemist and D-Watson. I don't remember exactly but I think I paid 1100rs (or less) for it.

Conatural Lip Scrub | Review

During the winters, the air starts to lose it's moisture and that's how we end up with dry and chapped lips. But if you're like me and you experience the dryness of lips all year round because you're too lazy to drink 8 glasses of water a day, then this product is for you.

About the product:
Treat your lips to a deliciously sweet treatment with our organic exfoliating scrub. Sugar gently scrubs and polishes, while almond oil hydrates to unveil supple, baby soft lips.
Antioxidants in vanilla essential oil prevent free radical damage and fine lines around the lip line. Regular use evens out and brightens lip color.

Usage:
Apply a coat to lips and lightly scrub in soft, circular motions, then rinse off with water or wipe off with a damp cloth.

Let me start off by saying that I was a little skeptical about this product since I heard mixed reviews about Conatural. The products worked for some people and for others, were a total waste of money. I decided to give it a try because ever since I moved to Islamabad, my lips have become very dry and flaky.
About the packing: I love how beautifully packed all Conatural products are. It's so colorful and the jar containing the scrub is sturdy, not made of cheap plastic.
I like that the scrub has different size of sugar granules, and does not feel harsh on the lips. The smell is oh so amazing, it smells like vanilla and cookies combined. It does not have a chemically smell at all.
You need a little bit of the scrub for your lips and it does an amazing job. My lips feels so moisturised after washing the scrub off that I don't even need to apply a lip balm. The product claims to evens out and brightens the lip color but I've been using it for over 2 month now and have not noticed any difference in the color of my lips but it doesn't really matter because all I want is soft lips. Period.
And did I mention it is Paraben free!

Final verdict:
This lip scrub has become my holy grail product. My lips have never felt so soft. I love the smell, the texture, the result, basically, everything about it. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lip scrub that actually works.
Keep in mind this is no magic potion that's gonna keep your lips soft and smooth forever. Drink lots of water and use a lip balm regularly, to keep your lips from cracking. But use it before you apply a matt lipstick and you'll see the difference.

Price:
I got this scrub for pkr540 from Shaheen Chemist Islamabad.

Weekend Getaway - Bhurban

Last weekend we decided to take a short trip to Bhurban. We stayed at the Chinar Family Resort which is located on Bhurban road near PC Bhurban. This was our first time staying at this resort and we absolutely loved it. We stayed in room 204 which is a corner room and the view from the balcony is breathtaking. If you stay at the Resort, you can get access to the Chinar Golf Club as well.
(did you know the Chinar Golf Facility was opened in 1932 and is 11th highest in the world)

We ended up paying 13,920 pkr (incl.taxes) for a night. We were told that rate increased from 10,600 pkr to 13,920 pkr within a week because it was the tourist season.
We got complimentary breakfast for 2 person. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant is open for non-resort guests as well.
Since we were only visiting for one night, we decided to make the most of it and went to PC Bhurban for dinner, which is located 150-200 feet away. We ordered Chicken Ala Kiev and Chicken Parmesan, and enjoyed it while listening to live music.
Next day we checked out at 1pm and headed back home. On the way back we stopped at Gloria Jeans Coffee located at the Express Highway. It was one of the highlights of our trip. That place has some mesmerising views to offer. We had coffee, did a little photo-shoot and headed back home.

Why did we chose Chinar Family Resort over Pearl Continental?
PC Bhurban is one of the most crowded places in that area and the reason we took this trip was to stay at a place where we could relax and enjoy the view..away from the people :D

Overall we had a wonderful experience at the Chinar Family Resort. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quite place to relax.

Gharara Pants | IMO

Hello ladies,
For today's post I wanted to talk about a not-so-new trend in town, I'm sure everyone of you is aware about the Gharara pants. And for those of you who don't know what a Gharara is, according to Google
Gharara : a pair of loose trousers with pleats below the kneww, worn by women from South Asia, typically with a kameez.

Of all the people, I thought I'd be the last one to buy it because I could not imagine myself running errands while wearing a Gharara.
But I decided to step out of my comfort zone and got this white Gharara pants from Ethnic Pakistan for 1600pkr. (don't even get me started on how I felt when these pants went on sale 4 days later)
Anyhow, at first I didn't really know how to style it so it just sat in my closet for an entire week. Then one day I decided to take them out for a spin, I knew I'd either look like a fashionista or this whole situation could end up being a total fashion-disaster, either way, I was willing to take the risk.

Styling these white Gharara pants was a lot easier than I imagined. You could wear it with a solid or printed tunic, an A-line frok or a peplum top. I feel that the length of the top should be above your knee so the pleating could be visible otherwise this could look like an ordinary flared boot-cut pant. And we don't want people thinking we're basic, do we? I mean we got a Gharara pant, we want everyone to know that we're wearing it while sipping a cup of coffee or while buying groceries.

2 things you need to keep in mind before you decide to wear a Gharara pant:

(a) You need to shave your legs since these pants are very flowy from the knee below (I learned the hard way)

(b) Do not use a public toilet. The biggest struggle that I faced was using a public toilet while wearing these pants. The floor was wet, I ended up with a wet Gharara, which is worst than a dry Gharara pant.

But on the plus side, these pants are very comfortable to wear during summers.

Was it a Yay or a Nay?
If you ask me, I would like to keep my Ghararas reserved for formal occasions. So it was a Nay for me.

Meemmakeup is now Meem-jeem!

Hello people!

It feels weird to be writing this post, wow, can't believe it's been 2 years since I last posted on my blog. It was May 2015 but it feels like I published that post yesterday. My life took a 180 degree change in these past 2 years and I've never been happier, Alhumdulilah.

I started this blog because I wanted to have a platform where I could share my views and write about things that I like. My blog was previously known as 'meemmakeup' (M for makeup, and 'M' in urdu is 'meem' so... yeah, creative, I know).

But I decided to change the name because I didn't want to limit my blog to just makeup related posts. So I decided to change the name from meemmakeup to meem-jeem (my initials M-J) also I'm so excited to announce that I have converted my blog into a website, ah!
*happy dance*
It might not be a big deal for some of you but I've been wanting to do it since the day I started my blog.

So here's to many many more posts in the future related to lifestyle, fashion, beauty, travel etc.
And a big thank you to everyone for supporting me and for leaving comments on my page.
Oh and since it's Global Love day, I wanted to tell you that I love you guys *sending virtual hug*

Spread love wherever you go,
M
