Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter - 040 Red Velvet | Review & Swatch

Hello lovelies, hope you all are having a good summer. Today I'm going to review a lip product that does not need any introduction. The Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters in the shade Red Velvet. I mean, who doesn't love these lip butters!

multiple swipes v/s one swipe *sunlight*

Okay let's start with the packaging, I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love it. The fact that it is plastic yet so sturdy for a drugstore product. The lid correlates with the shade inside and the transparent window on top makes it easy for me to arrange it in the makeup drawer. Plus, when you are out purchasing a new shade from a shop where you're not allowed to swatch (been there) it's easy for you to decide as you can see the actual shade from the top.
The only thing that irritates me is that sometimes it is tricky to open it specially if you have long nails, as the upper lid is too long. But that's not that big of an issue, just saying.

It is a deep, dark red color. a little on the maroonish side. This shade is exactly what I wanted. My love for reds and maroons is growing day by day but I couldn't find a lip product that I could wear during the day time as most of the lipsticks looks too bold in the sunlight.
The shade red velvet looks too dark when you just look at it but once you apply, it gives a shiney
not-too-vampire'y look.

This color reminds me of fall season, and I know I'm going to wear it a lot in the fall as well but for now I use it during the daytime as a tint and it looks quite natural.
It gives a shiny finish to the lips but does not have any glitter chunks in it.

The color payoff is really good. One swipe is enough to get the color onto your lips. But if you want to go for the true deep red color, swipe it 2-3 times and voila.
The lip butters that I've used before were not really pigmented, but this one almost looks like you're wearing a lip-gloss or a lipstick.

Staying Power:
It stayed on my lips for 4-5 hours and faded evenly. The fact that it is such a dark color makes the staying power more. But if you eat or drink, it would stay for max 3 hours which is pretty good for a lip butter.

It does not feel heavy on the lips and is not sticky at all. You do feel like you've got something on the lips but it does not irritate you in a way that most lipsticks do. The color is quite deep but it does not have any blue or orange undertones. I tried it on 3 people with different skin tones and it looked good on all of them. It glides on smoothly, feels so moisturizing and does not dry out the lips. That's what I like about the lip butters and for me the plus point is that I do not need to apply a lip balm underneath it.
The only complain I have is that it was so easily melted, as you can see from the pictures.

It smells like vanilla, but the scent is very light. It might irritate you if you don't like this scent or if you're nose is way too sensitive. I'm just glad it doesn't smell like medicine like most drugstore products.

Red Velvet is perfect for you is you're comfortable wearing bold shades. Works pretty well on different skin tones. It is a moisturizing lip butter that feels light on the lips and is easy to carry in your makeup bag. Also, pigmentation is really impressive for a lip butter.

The Good:
Sturdy packaging
Lasting power is more compared to other lipbutters
Clear lid

The Bad:
A little pricey
Melts easily

Would I repurchase it? Price?
Yes, in Fall probably. I've seen online pages selling these Revlon Lipbutters for 1200 or 1300 but I ordered it from a local retailer for 950rs (10$)

Thanks for reading :)
